Dennis D. Woodruff, D.V.M.
Dr. Woodruff graduated from
Iowa State University College of Medicine in 1974 and has a special interest in
orthopedics. Dr. Woodruff performs ruptured anterior cruciate ligament repairs
(RACL), triple pelvic osteotomy (TPO), and hemilaminectomy surgeries as well as
complicated fracture repairs, bone biopsies, amputations and soft tissue
surgery, including entropion repair, eye enucleations, gastrotomies, hernia
repairs, exploratory surgeries, and soft palate surgeries.
Dr. Woodruff
believes in the value of continuing education for his staff and promotes
attendance at leading conferences and participating in professional as well as
community organizations. He has been active in and held leadership
positions in the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, the Greater Des Moines
Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and
Iowa State University's Veterinary Teaching Hospital Liaison Committee. He has also
contributed to his community by serving as a City Council Member and
Mayor of Carlisle, Iowa. He has also enjoyed serving on the
YMCA Board of Directors and the Des Moines Chamber of Commerce as
well as coaching numerous little league sports teams. Most
recently, Dr. Woodruff has become a member of
American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians.

Christopher Groos, D.V.M.
Dr. Groos joined the Avondale
Veterinary Healthcare Complex team in July of 2004. He is a graduate of the
Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has a special interest
in feline and canine dentistry. He also sees general medicine cases and enjoys
surgery. Dr. Groos has studied international public health and has pursued
additional education not only in dentistry, but ophthalmology and dermatology as
well.
He actively participates in the American Veterinary Medical Association,
is a former board member for the Angel's Wish Animal Rescue Organization.
He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Jen, daughter, Hannah, and son,
Henry. |

Mandy Hollander, D.V.M.
Dr. Mandy
Hollander graduated from Iowa State University College of Medicine in 2000, and
has been an associate veterinarian at Avondale Veterinary Healthcare Complex
since then. Dr. Hollander has special interests in canine and feline internal
medicine, oncology and ultrasonography. She is a member of many professional
organizations including Greater Des Moines Veterinary Medical Association,
American Animal Hospital Association, American Veterinary Medical Association
and Iowa Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Hollander enjoys spending time
with her husband, Marc, and their children, Madeline and Malcom. Her family also includes
her dog, "Murphy" and her cat, "Jeffery". |

Beth Wilkinson, D.V.M.
Dr. Wilkinson graduated from Iowa State
University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She joined Avondale the
summer of 2008. Dr. Wilkinson is a member of the American Veterinary Medical
Association, Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal
Hospital Association. She works with the Animal Protection
& Education Charity doing feline and canine spays and neuters when she isn't
working at Avondale.

Dr. Wilkinson is also our resident
rabbit doctor! If you have a bunny buddy that needs some medical care,
call us and schedule an appointment with Dr. Wilkinson who will help you
determine your rabbit's best treatment options. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Brian and pets,
"Ted" a Balinese cat and "Cody", a German Shorthair Pointer. She and her
husband enjoy spending time with their little girl. |

Christie Carlo, D.V.M.
Dr. Carlo is a graduate
of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. She
received her certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist by the Canine
Rehabilitation Institute in October 2010. Dr. Carlo is a member of the
Greater Des Moines Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical
Association, American Animal Hospital Association, American Association of
Feline Practitioners, Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, American Association
of Rehabilitation Veterinarians and the International Veterinary Academy of Pain
Management.
In addition to general veterinary medicine, Dr. Carlo enjoys all phases of
canine and feline rehabilitation medicine including massage therapy, underwater
treadmill therapy, stem cell therapy and laser pain therapy.
She and her husband, Tim,
have two children, John and Emily.
In Dr. Carlo's free time, she spends time
quilting, cooking, reading, walking, bike riding, traveling and Tae Kwon Do.
Dr. Carlo is now a member and also Secretary of the
American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians. |

Julie Gilmore, D.V.M.
Dr. Julie Gilmore
joined the Avondale Veterinary Healthcare team in May of 2010. She is a
graduate of the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and enjoys
both canine and feline internal
medicine and
surgery. She is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, the
Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association
and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. She enjoys spending her
free time with her husband, Tim, and daughter, Sydney. She also adores her
faithful, furry companions, a yellow lab named "Dakota", a German Shepherd named
"Morgan", a Pixie Bob named "Aspen" and her cat, "Myia". She loves to travel, garden,
cook, read, dabble with watercolors and pastels, hike and just about anything
else that lets her spend time outdoors. |

Tricia Beasley, D.V.M.
Dr. Tricia Beasley joined the Avondale
Veterinary Healthcare Complex team in June of 2010. She is a
graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and
has a special interest in small animal surgery and emergency
medicine. She completed an emergency and critical care internship at
Iowa State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2008. She then
continued her education at Affiliated Veterinary Specialist in
Maitland Florida, where she completed a general surgery internship.
Dr. Beasley is a member of the American Veterinary Medical
Association. She enjoys spending her free time with family, friends
and her pets “Wrigley, “Gracie” and “Clifford”. She loves travel,
cooking, photography, and a number of outdoor activities that
include snow skiing, running, hiking and climbing.
