PET WELLNESS EXAMINATIONS

PREVENTION IS THE BEST CURE
We believe the best approach to your pet's health care is to stop problems before they start. Proper care of your pet is the easiest and best way to keep him happy and healthy. At
Avondale Veterinary Healthcare Complex, we provide a nose to toes exam for all of our pet
patients.

We recommend a complete physical exam for your
pet on a yearly basis. Lots of changes can occur from year to year,
especially as your pet gets older.
Preventative health care recommendations are made
based on examination findings and your pet’s individual needs and situation,
which you help us to determine. This may include blood, urine, or fecal
tests, vaccinations, dietary or exercise advice, and life-style changes.

A complete
veterinary examination includes:

NEW PUPPY & KITTEN VISITS
These first visits are
especially fun and very important in getting your new pet off
to a good start. Our doctors perform thorough physical
examinations, focusing on any internal or external parasite
problems, congenital or developmental abnormalities. Our doctors
and assistants will give you the latest information about
diet, training,
and preventative care.

FULL SERVICE ANIMAL HOSPITAL
Avondale Veterinary Healthcare Complex is a full service veterinary hospital
providing Des Moines pet owners with not only routine veterinary procedures and
treatments but also offers your pet orthopedic surgery, oncology, chemotherapy, MetRx
imaging, and a senior wellness program for older pets.

PARASITE PREVENTION
Heartworms
are easy to prevent in dogs and cats by a simple monthly pill or
topical, however, very dangerous and costly to treat once the pet
gets heartworms. Year-round Flea and Tick Prevention is also
necessary to prevent transmission of disease resulting in
dermatology and severe skin problems such as itching & scratching.
Did
you know?
-
The flea you see today came from an
egg 3-8 weeks ago.
-
Every flea lays an average of
20-30 eggs PER DAY. These
fall off your pet into the
environment, therefore you must
treat the environment for at least
3-8 weeks.
