Avondale's Pet Resort offers first class accommodations for your dog or cat. Designed for the safety and comfort of your pet, our facility is Iowa's only ABKA accredited kennel.
The American Boarding Kennel Association's seal of approval means we have met over 200 detailed requirements and thus represent the state of the art in animal care and management.

VACATION SUITE guests enjoy a 40-square foot private room with a window, a TV to make it sound like home, a bunk bed, and a special one-on-one playtime with a staff member in addition to three daily walks and two meals.
A "Yappy Hour" treat at playtime and a bubble bath on your pet's last day with us, are also included.
DORM ROOM guests enjoy an 18 or 24 square foot indoor, climate controlled run with a privacy divider on three sides, a bunk bed, soft music, and heated floors as well as two means and three walks each day.
Guests staying two or more nights will have a bubble bath the morning of check out. Playtime is an additional option.
CAT CONDOS are air conditioned/heated and offer our feline guests a quiet, sunny, spacious place to relax far away from "talkative" dogs. Each condo offers a resting shelf and an east window along with a fleece bed. Our staff visits each cat three or more times each day and attends to their litter box, food and water. Our cat playroom provides extra space to explore the aquarium and climbing tree. It also features a view of the Cat Hospital lobby. We do ask that feline playroom visitors be tested negative for feline leukemia.
PLAYTIMES may be arranged for your pet during their stay. Your pet will enjoy 20-30 minutes of quality one-on-one time with a member of our staff. Playtimes may be spent playing fetch in the yard, cuddling in your pet's room, or enjoying a leisurely walk on our trail.
Packing for your pet's stay is easy because guests are provided with a bunk bed or fleece bedding. If you would like to bring something that smells like home, we suggest a t-shirt or pillowcase. A toy or two is always welcome, too.
However, we cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items. We find it very helpful if belongings are marked with your pet's name.
Our Sports Suite
Special diets are welcome. We offer Iams Minichunks, Science Diet Adult Maintenance and Eukanuba Low Residue dry foods, or you are welcome to bring your pet's food from home. Keep in mind a change in diet can cause stomach upset during your pet's stay.
If you are bringing food, please bring in a sealed, waterproof container (no glass, please) marked with your pet's name.
Our Tropical Suite
Medications will be given to your pet according to your instructions you leave at check in. Depending on the amount of medications, a nominal charge may be added to your bill. Other special medical needs are met whenever possible.
Please call in advance to discuss them with our staff.
Our Snoopy Dog House Suite
Upon check-in, a courtesy wellness is performed on each guest by a member of our hospital's staff. To protect the health of our guests, we do require that pets be current on vaccinations and free of internal and external parasites.
Dogs must have the DA2PL-Parvo-Corona and Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccines annually and Rabies every two years. Cats require an FVRCP and Rabies vaccine each year. In addition, we require all dogs and cats to have a stool sample (fecal test). For dogs that would be every 6 months and for cats that would be once a year. This would help ensure that they are free of internal parasites.
Our Lodge Suite
Please provide us with a copy of your pet's vaccination history or have your veterinarian fax your pet's history to us at 515-262-6017.
Should any vaccines be due, they will be administered following a wellness exam by one of our veterinarians and your bill will be adjusted accordingly. Should a thorough diagnostic exam be requested by the owner, an office visit will be charged.

Peak Season Rate - Add $2 per night. Peak season rates are in effect Memorial Day through Labor Day, Spring Break week and over the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holidays.
Rates are charged by the night. Guests may be checked in or out any time during our Monday-Saturday hours.
Guests checking out on Sunday evening will be charged for Sunday night; however, there will not be an additional charge if check out is delayed until Monday.
