Avondale Veterinary Healthcare Complex contains a complete veterinary hospital. All routine veterinary procedures and treatments are available, including orthopedic surgery, oncology, chemotherapy, MetRx imaging, and a senior wellness program for older pets.
We recommend a complete physical exam for your pet on a yearly basis. Lots of changes can occur from year to year, especially as your pet gets older.
Preventative health care recommendations are made based on examination findings and your pet’s individual needs and situation, which you help us to determine. This may include blood, urine, or fecal tests, vaccinations, dietary or exercise advice, and life-style changes.
Our Veterinarians are trained in the latest techniques should your pet require a surgical procedure. We offer a full range of soft tissue surgeries which include routine spays and neuters, tumor removal, biopsies, to more advanced procedures such as hip surgery, bone grafts and obstruction removal. We also offer LASER SURGERY which can provide your pet with many advantages including less swelling, faster healing, and less pain.

Triple Pelvic Osteotomy (TPO) is a procedure most commonly used in young dogs that have hip dysplasia. Dogs affected with hip dysplasia have looser than normal hips which cause many dogs to develop pain and inflammation of the joint, including arthritis. The hip joint is like a ball and socket. When a dog is affected with hip dysplasia, the ball (femoral head) drifts out of the socket (acetabulum). This results in less than normal covering of the femoral head.
TPO is a surgical technique that involves three cuts of the bone (triple osteotomy) around the joint that allows the surgeon to tilt the socket (acetabulum) over the ball (femoral head). The goal is to give a better fit to the joint to allow for better long-term function of the affected limb and to decrease the amount of arthritis that may develop.
Our modern digital veterinary X-Ray equipment ensures your pet has minimal exposure to radiation, while providing our doctors with the very best digital imaging available to evaluate your pet's condition and determine the best form of treatment.
We offer barium studies, hip dysplasia screening, contrast studies and many other diagnostic evaluations to help you and the doctor choose the best course of care for your pet.
Our veterinary ultrasound allows the doctors to examine your pet without invasive or painful procedures. This pain free, non stressful procedure assists the doctor in diagnosing abdominal, cardiac, urinary, cervical, and many other problems your pet may be experiencing.
Veterinary ultrasound also helps the doctor in establishing a diagnosis and treatment plan to keep your pet happy and healthy for life.
Our in-house veterinary laboratory features diagnostic testing for the following:
Alkaline Phosphatase, Glucose, BUN, Albumin, Indirect Phosphorus, Total Cholerine, Amylase, Total Bilirubin, Heartworm Occult, Pregnancy, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia & PCV.

At Avondale Veterinary Healthcare Complex, we are committed to ensuring that your pet's pain is kept to a minimum. We offer pain management treatments that include pain patches, both injectible and oral pain medications, and CRI (Constant Rate Infusion) during post operative recovery.
We will take every measure to eliminate your pet's pain and any stress related problems experienced from surgery or treatment procedures. Our veterinary doctors and staff will treat your pet with the same care and compassion as if your pet were their own pet.

As your pet ages, it's important to recognize that pets suffer from many of the same conditions as aging humans. Avondale Veterinary Healthcare Complex offers care for your older pets including treatment for dementia, cognitive dysfunction, and senility.
We will also advise you regarding special diets for geriatric pets, together with counseling and treatment for conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, and other age related problems you pet may be experiencing.
Vaccinating your pets against disease is one of the most important aspects of pet health care. Proper vaccination can spare your pets from such potentially deadly diseases as rabies, distemper and feline leukemia. Vaccinations must be re-administered periodically to protect your pets from diseases and keep them healthy for a lifetime.
Dermatology and skin disorders can lead to your pet having itching problems, hair loss, skin infections, ringworm, mites, and "hot spots". If you pet is constantly scratching, or licking, we'll help you determine the cause of your pet's skin problem and help you with a treatment plan to make your pet more comfortable.
