HERE'S WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE EFFECTIVENESS OF

VETERINARY LASER THERAPY AT AVONDALE!

"Just finished laser therapy on my dog, Max, who is a 13 year old yellow lab/beagle mix.  He tolerated the therapy very well and has done amazingly well.  Prior to the treatments, he was very slow moving; reluctant to walk for very long distances; had to be helped up and down stairs; could not scratch his nose and ears and due to pain when he laid down, he always laid on his side.  In addition, he did have some trouble getting up and down.  Since finishing, I have noticed great improvement.  He is walking farther, he goes up and down stairs on his own; he will lay down with his hind legs out behind him which he has not done for over a year and a half.  He gets up from lying down much easier, and is able to scratch his ears.  He moves much faster and is doing things he could not do before.  I am amazed at the change and would recommend laser therapy---I am convinced it has helped Max."   Bill Bolles

Hi -- My name is Max, and I am a 13 year old lab/beagle mix.  My owner decided to have me undergo some laser therapy since I was not getting around too well and was finding it difficult to do many things I liked doing.   Wow!!  What a difference.  All of a sudden I can scratch my ears again and can go up and down the stairs.  I can even lay with my hind legs stretched out behind me…which I haven’t been able to do for a long time.  I can even get up and down much easier than I could before the treatments.  I am doing much better and would recommend laser therapy to anyone who is having trouble getting around and in pain from arthritis….it is great.   -- 12/2/2011

To Dr. Woodruff and staff at Avondale:

"This is a picture of the best personnel trainer someone could have.  It also shows what a great benefit it is to have a happy loving work out partner. We have had dogs our whole life and they come with such a wide variety of personalities. Charley is our latest Golden.  She is 17 months old. She has energy that we have never experienced in any of our pervious dogs. I am 57 and pretty active and exercise often. When Charley came into our lives it was apparent she needed a lot of exercise or she would be restless and bored making her hard to deal with throughout the day. I started walking her from the beginning on short walks.  She was a pain. Walked uncontrollable and chased everything. But with consistent walking and corrections she became the absolutely best walking dog I've owned. We have walked every day since she came home with us. We have missed only a couple of days her whole life. Here is a picture of us walking the 3.2 mile trail at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines in 44 minutes. Dr. Woodruff and the staff also suggested putting her on a tread mill. We thought this was crazy and would be tough to do. But with treats and know-how from Avondale, she picked up the tread mill walking very fast. Now every night she hops on the tread mill and huffs at my wife to walk. With no leash attached, she walks a pace of 3.0 for 30 minutes.

So I writing to thank the Avondale Staff and Dr. Woodruff and to encourage people my age or older to look at having an active dog as a blessing. Exercise is hard to get started and frustrating as there will be many excuses that creep in telling you not this day. But when you look into the eyes of you're very own personnel trainer whose whole life revolves around you it makes you get up and move. A dog is great for your soul, mind, and health."

"We recently had a scare with our 13 year old Labrador Retriever, Molly, and I thought we would have to put her down.  She got up in the middle of the night, and every time she stood up, she fell down.  Fearing the worst, like a stroke, I got her to Avondale where Dr. Woodruff examined her and felt that Molly had hurt her back and not had a stroke.  He suggested laser therapy.  After asking him just what that meant, we agreed to the initial 7 treatments.  After the first treatment that day Molly was walking and not falling.  Now that the 7 treatments have been administered, she is as close to a healthy 13 year old dog as she can be.  She even wants to walk faster than I do on our walks.  I really believe the laser treatments have reduced inflammation and pain in Molly.  I am so glad we had this option for her.  They take a small amount of time and she is ready to go.  I am glad my best friend Molly is feeling so much better."

"Our 13 year old Sheltie Missy, has been having trouble walking and going up and down steps for the last year. Pain medications did not help her, so we took her to Avondale Pet Hospital for a second opinion.  Her x-rays showed that she had severe arthritis in her hind legs.  She has had five sessions of laser therapy and has definitely increased her mobility.  She is also following a low-calorie diet and  lost 1 1/2 lbs in 8 days. We are very grateful to the doctors and staff at Avondale for improving Missy's quality of life! "

"I would like to say thank you to Dr. Woodruff and the staff of Avondale for the great care that they have given 'Cherokee' during her difficult struggles with her back.  The laser therapy that was done made her feel good and spunky again.  She was having difficulties walking and moving around, but with the use of the laser therapy, she is able to function on her own with little to no assistance.  She is often more bouncy and energetic right after the procedures.  It was non invasive and the sessions were relatively short and the outcome was great.

Thanks again for the great care that was given “Cherokee!”
